M – Model-driven apps – How to add them to Teams?

Introduction

Model-driven apps have been around for the longest time. Although they don't have the same UI capabilities like canvas apps, there are certain use cases where they work better. For example, a model-driven app would be perfect for admins or back office users to monitor finished inspections. Dataverse for Teams was a great introduction to bring Power Apps to a much bigger audience. However, you cannot create model-driven apps with Dataverse for Teams.

Does this mean its the end of Teams and model-driven apps? No! Although you cannot create them in Teams, you can still add them to a Team's channel. Here are the steps:

1. On a Teams channel, click on the + sign.
2. Select Power Apps
3. In the filter drop-down, select Model-driven apps
4. Pick the app you want and click save
