The new CDS connector offers several benefits like:
- Significant speed gains
- Increased reliability
- Access to Common Data Service views and File and Image field attributes
- Entities suggestion for CDS
- Enhanced data source selection
Apps created prior to November 2019 would still be using the old CDS connector. To switch to the new connector, the steps are as follows:
- Remove all your CDS data connections
- Turn on the "Improve data source experience and Common Data Service views" setting
- Save your app
However, step 2 isn't that straightforward. When you try to turn on that setting, you get the following error:
It seems like you are trapped in a loop - to enable the setting you want to, it tells you to, well, enable that setting!!!
To get past this, you need to follow these steps:
- Turn on the "Relational Data, option sets, and other new features for CDS" setting (under Deprecated Features)
- Turn on the "Use column display names" (under Preview Features)
With these two settings turned on, you will now be able to turn on the "Improve data source experience and Common Data Service views" setting,
With this setting enabled, you will be all set to enjoy all the features of the new CDS connector!
Have fun! Get addicted!
