The PowerAddict? What’s in a name? May be there is

Good or bad online id?
Good or bad online id?

So I have been blogging about Power Apps (thepoweraddict) for almost 2 years now. But here is my 1st, and hopefully the last, blog on a topic other than Power Apps.

I had a suspicion for some time now and finally, a few weeks ago, someone confirmed that the name I have been using for my online presence across platforms "thepoweraddict" pissed a lot of people in the power addicts community. I had honestly never even thought about this as a possible outcome of my choice of a freaking username.

It was a decision based on simple economics. This domain was available for only $11.99/year. A few other (not-as-offensive) variants were as expensive as $2000/year (you can try some of them here). And it was available across platforms - #powerapps forums, Twitter, domain etc. So that made the decision easier.

There were, and still are, many users with "that" in their usernames. So I really didn't think there would be much diff between something like "that poweraddict" & "the poweraddict". Both can be qualified with additional details like the/that power addict who works at Hitachi & lives in Houston, Texas who sucks at Power Automate!

It was never intended to mean that I am THE power addict. That's not a philosophy I believe in. For those of u who have had the opportunity to know me better over the past 2 years, hopefully you would agree. I have always been available to help others irrespective of time zones.

I have been meaning to do this for sometime now, so glad I am finally doing it. Am super happy & thankful that someone opened up & shared this experience with me. So apologies to those who got offended, that was never my intention. Hopefully I have been able to clear the air.

Just another Power Addict..

  1. Hi Hardit,

I am surprised people are p1$$3d 0ff at a name.

Like you, my domain was based on availability (PracticalPowerApps) and I hope this does not infer others are not practical . . .
